The Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN): Strengthening Local Pharmaceutical Manufacturing for Sustainable Health Security in Africa.

About This Event

The Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) and the West African Federation of Alliances of the Private Sector of Health (FOASPS) are proud to host a High-Level Roundtable on Local Manufacturing of Medicines in Nigeria under the theme: “Strengthening Local Pharmaceutical Manufacturing for Sustainable Health Security in Africa.”

This exclusive Roundtable, convened by HFN in collaboration with FOASPS, AUDA-NEPAD, PVAC, and the World Bank, will bring together senior policymakers, regulators, financiers, and industry leaders to define a coordinated agenda for advancing Nigeria’s pharmaceutical sector.

Discussions will focus on four strategic priorities:

  • Regulatory Strengthening – aligning with the NAFDAC Roadmap for Local Manufacturing and AUDA-NEPAD’s 24 Priority Medical Products Initiative.
  • Available Financing and Investment Opportunity – unlocking large-scale capital through development banks, blended finance structures, and public-private partnerships to build a robust pharmaceutical ecosystem.

  • Market Shaping and Access – driving procurement reforms, pooled regional platforms, and essential drug list integration to ensure predictable demand for locally manufactured medicines.

  • Tech/Workforce Strengthening – harnessing digital technologies for smarter production systems, advancing research and development capacity, and developing a skilled pharmaceutical workforce through training, technology transfer, and industry-academia partnerships.

The event will chart Nigeria’s pharmaceutical future, reinforcing our leadership role in Africa, advancing health security, driving economic diversification, and creating high-value jobs.
